WEEK1 - Hi peeps! ✨

Hi! This is me, Amanina. Ah... It feels awkward to write about myself but yeah here it is. I am going to be a 23-years-old young lady this 28th March. I live in Pahang. Now, I am furthering my studies in Kolej Universiti Poly-Tech MARA Kuala Lumpur as a student of Bachelor of Arts (Hons) In Applied English Language Studies. Currently, I am in semester 7. And yes I have been here since my diploma times. Quite a long time, isn’t it? (I love KUPTM 💗)

Yesterday, I had entered the class of Internet Technologies for Language (ESP401). Looking at the subject’s name obviously, it is about technology which I am not really good with. I only know how to engage with the social media and some basic things, I guess (?). But never mind, I would love to go deep through this subject as it seems to be fascinating.

After Madam Azida had briefed us about the assessments for this subject, my classmates and I were assigned to create a blog which I had never done before. At first, I was freaking clueless. Don’t know where to click and how to design this blog thing. But after clicking all the buttons which I don’t know what is their function and asking for help from Madam and friends, now I am able to sort things slowly. Blogging is quite fun! I’m going to update everything that I did in class! Stay tuned peeps! (OMG, I’m a blogger now!)

When learning new things, obviously we will put some kind of expectation to it. So, as for this subject, I would like to know more about internet technologies. I believe that knowing how to deal with internet technology is an extra credit, especially when working. Nowadays, everything uses technology. I hope that by learning this subject I am able to explore more about the way to use the software and all so that I can prepare myself before I go for the internship later on.

 During the second class of the week, Madam Azida taught us about types of blog that are frequently used in English Language Learning (ELL). There are several types of blog like weblog, tutor blog, class blog, and learner blog. These blogs play different functions thus are very helpful in language learning. Below are brief descriptions of the blogs; 

In addition, there are several reasons that encourage students and teachers to use blog as it gives a lot of advantages as blogging can refine the students writing skill and also provide extra reading for students. Plus, blogging also stimulates out-of-class discussions which are very convenient for the students and also the teachers. However, it still has some disadvantages as it might have poor content and teachers might encounter with several problems to do corrections on student's work. 

In conclusion, blogging does have a lot of benefits as it can enhance the students' skill in learning English. Despite using old methods or techniques in teaching, blogging seems to be more convenient because it can be done even at home and also it allows active participation among the students in line with the technology advancement nowadays.

Hello there! 🙋As for this week, I want to share about a new topic that I just learned which is Instructional Design . Instructional design is a systematic process of creating instructional materials, modules, or lessons. It is the combination of education, psychology, and communication in order to create effective teaching plans for students. The process of instructional design carefully considers the students’ needs so that they will be able to achieve their academic goals. From my point of view, instructional design is cost effective as it creates high-quality learning materials by considering the strengths and weaknesses of the students as it sets the stage for a successful learning experience.
